Born 1951 in Chadron, Nebraska. Moved to Palm Springs 1964. Attended junior high school and high school graduating from Palm Springs High School in 1970. Continued education in anthropology at College of the Desert, Palm Desert, California, and at University of California, Santa Cruz campus, majoring in historic sites archaeology. Began painting in pastel and watercolor in the late 1970s while on project locations in California. Continued painting in watercolor while on location in Hawaii during the 1980s, and developed an interest there in oil which has been his principal medium since that time.
Jim studied composition and portraiture in the mid-1990s under Mr. Jack Rowe, a student of Weyman Adams during the early 1940s. Jim’s mother was a (copy ended here)
